Who we are
Byteloft is a trading name of Clay Turner, based in the UK. For anything about your data, email clay@byteloft.co.uk.
What we collect
- If you contact us (through the form on this website or by email): your name, business name, email address, phone number if you give it, and your message.
- If you become a client: the details needed to do the work and invoice you, and any files or data you choose to share with us for a project.
- Business contact details: we may contact businesses we think could benefit from our services, using business contact details that are publicly available, for example on the business's own website. Every such email tells you how to opt out, and we stop straight away if you ask.
Why we use it
- To reply to your enquiry and give you a quote (our legitimate interest in responding to you, or steps before entering a contract).
- To carry out work you've asked us to do and to invoice you (performance of a contract, and legal obligations for our accounts).
- To contact businesses about services that may be relevant to them (our legitimate interest in promoting our business). You can object at any time.
We never sell your data, and we don't use it for anything you wouldn't expect.
Who processes it for us
- Our website and contact form are hosted by Netlify.
- Our email is provided by Zoho.
These providers store data on our behalf under their own security and data-protection terms. Some may process data outside the UK, with appropriate safeguards in place.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that don't lead to work are deleted within 12 months.
- Client records are kept for 6 years, as required for tax and accounts.
- Data you share for a project is deleted once the project is finished, unless you ask us to keep it, for example for a monthly report.
- If you ask us not to contact you, we keep your email address on a do-not-contact list so that we never contact you again.
Your rights
You can ask to see the data we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, or object to how we use it. Email clay@byteloft.co.uk and we'll respond within one month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
